Sculptural Artifacts
29 Things
Objects of the 29th element.
Copper · Charlotte, NC
The idea
Twenty-nine electrons, one of them alone.
Copper's 29 electrons fill four shells. The last holds a single one — and in the metal, that electron leaves its atom entirely, joining a shared sea that makes copper one of the best conductors there is.
The odd thing on the outside. That's the throughline: material that behaves strangely because of one small anomaly, worked into objects that carry that physics with them.
Hammered, brazed, left to weather. Every piece changes after it leaves the studio.
The work
Sculptural artifacts made in copper and brass.
Small-batch objects — wall pieces, desk objects, lighting, and structural forms — made with attention to geometry, (a)symmetry, how the material ages and what it means to own a thing that keeps changing.
Material
Copper and brass
Raw, patinated, or finished. Each piece is marked with the studio stamp and a numbered edition.
Process
Made by hand
Hammered, cut, brazed and ground in Charlotte, NC. Limited runs, all unique.
Time
Objects that age
Copper browns, then greens. No two patinas form the same way. The piece you receive keeps changing.
